Fresh Funding to Develop Quantum Technology Solutions to Solve Market-Led Challenges

0
The Department of Industry, Science and Resources has announced grants for eligible entities to develop quantum technology solutions or a component(s) that contributes to a solution for market-led challenges of national significance.
The amount of funding available is AUD17,924,000 and the Department estimates individual grants will range between AUD100,000 and AUD5,000,000.
Solutions may involve the use of other advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence and robotics. The department is providing two grant opportunities to:
  • Improve biosecurity outcomes by enhancing the detection of invasive pests or diseases, and cargo inspection processes;
  • Improve life expectancy, health outcomes and access to health technology for First Nations peoples;
  • Optimise transport routes, logistics and supply chain operations; and
  • Optimise the performance, sustainability, and security of energy networks.
A stage one feasibility grant will be used to test and demonstrate the technical viability of your proposed solution or component(s) of a solution.
A stage 2 demonstrator grant is to support building on the stage 1 feasibility project and produce working prototypes or demonstrations.
Only applicants that complete a stage 1 feasibility project will be invited to apply for stage 2 demonstrator funding.
Eligible applicants for a stage 1 feasibility grant must:
  • Have an Australian business number (ABN);
  • Be registered for the goods and services tax (GST);
  • Be an entity incorporated in Australia; and
  • Be applying on behalf of an eligible joint (consortia) collaboration.
The range of ineligible applicants include international organisations and Commonwealth, state, territory or local government bodies, among others.
Full details of the funding opportunity are available at the Australian Government’s Grant Connect website.
Applications open January 15, 2025.
