Chargefox has expanded its national electric vehicle charging platform through a new partnership with EVX, adding hundreds of kerbside charging points aimed at drivers without access to off-street parking. The integration brings EVX’s pole-mounted chargers onto the Chargefox app, widening access to one of Australia’s most extensive public EV charging networks.
EVX chargers are currently installed across several New South Wales locations, including Sydney, Wollongong, Ballina and Byron Bay, with two additional sites operating in Melbourne’s south-eastern suburbs. The announcement follows the recent addition of AGL kerbside chargers to Chargefox, highlighting growing collaboration between charging providers to support users who cannot install home-based charging equipment.
Chargefox operator Australian Motoring Services said the partnership is intended to improve everyday charging access for apartment residents, renters and households without garages or driveways. CEO Rebecca Stenhouse said kerbside charging is an essential component of broadening EV adoption and ensuring a consistent experience across networks.
Under the agreement, EVX’s kerbside chargers are now available to Chargefox users — including private drivers, fleet operators and subscription customers — who can locate, activate and pay for charging sessions through the Chargefox app or RFID cards.
EVX CEO Andrew Forster said the partnership aligns with broader industry efforts to improve interoperability through roaming arrangements between charging networks. He said expanding access to EVX chargers is expected to increase utilisation rates and support further investment in new charging infrastructure.
Chargefox said the integration contributes to addressing “app fatigue,” where drivers must navigate multiple platforms to use different networks. The company now lists more charging locations nationwide than any other Australian platform.
A total of 120 EVX locations, offering 240 charging plugs, are available on Chargefox, with 28 additional Sydney sites to be added soon.
