NEC Australia and New Zealand says it has welcomed the agreement to transfer its wireless transport business to Aviat Networks.
“NEC have had a presence in Australia and New Zealand for more than five decades and during that time has prided itself on a tradition that values continuous local and global change, and this agreement with Aviat allows that tradition to continue,” said Sam Iacono, NEC Australia’s Vice President – Infrastructure and Communications. “It also continues the recent history of collaboration with Aviat, and we are confident it will ensure strong outcomes for existing customers, with a smooth transition period without service disruption and the ultimate goal of a better customer experience.”

This will lead to new opportunities for Aviat to pursue select Tier 1 business.”

As the largest minority shareholder of Aviat, NEC says it will assign a board member. The deal is expected to close in the fourth quarter of calendar year 2023.
