French hydrogen power and energy storage company EODev has partnered with French power solutions manufacturer Baudouin to bring industrial-scale solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) power generation to market, with a new distributed-power offer expected to be presented in September.
The companies are positioning SOFC systems as an on-site, continuous power option for operators of data centres, industrial sites and critical infrastructure facing rising electricity demand, grid constraints and long connection delays.
SOFC technology converts natural gas, renewable gases or hydrogen into electricity via an electrochemical reaction, rather than combustion. EODev and Baudouin said the approach offers high electrical efficiency, lower CO2 and near-zero air pollutants compared with combustion-based generation, and can operate connected to the grid or independently. The companies also said waste heat can be recovered for combined heat and power.
EODev said SOFC would complement its hydrogen generators and battery storage by adding a continuous baseload component for customers requiring round-the-clock power. According to the release, each standard system delivers 600kW and can be combined to meet multi-megawatt requirements.

Baudouin CEO Fabrizio Mozzi said the partnership would extend the company’s power-generation work into fuel-cell technology. “By combining our expertise in critical power applications with innovative Solid Oxide Fuel Cell technology, we are expanding the range of solutions available for our customers while remaining true to our commitment to reliability, performance and the long-term energy transition,” he said.
Under the partnership, EODev will integrate Baudouin’s SOFC solutions across Europe, with exclusive rights in France and Poland, and will pursue additional opportunities in international markets.
The solution is currently undergoing field validation through pilot installations ahead of a commercial launch planned for September 2026, with first customer deliveries targeted for Q1 2027.
