BMT has acquired Sydney-based naval architecture firm One2three Naval Architects, in a move the company says will strengthen its commercial and specialist vessel design capabilities across international markets.
One2three, founded in 2005, has delivered more than 300 vessels across more than 30 countries, according to the companies. Its work spans commercial ferries, para-military craft, luxury yachts and battery-powered vessels, with a focus on hull form design and high-performance ferries.
BMT said existing customer relationships, delivery teams and active projects will continue without disruption. It said the acquisition is intended to provide customers with broader engineering support, expanded delivery resources and increased international reach.
The company also said the deal would scale its ship design offering to support “globally distributed shipbuilding programs” and improve responsiveness and collaboration with shipyards by aligning design and engineering teams more closely with customers geographically.

BMT said the combined vessel design portfolio will increase the scale and global reach of its ship design offering, with customers expected to gain access to expanded engineering resources to meet evolving shipyard requirements.
