NTT DATA has launched Innovation Centre Australia (ICA) in Sydney, positioning the facility as part of its global research and development network and aimed at supporting enterprise and government organisations across Australia and New Zealand.
The company said the centre is designed to help organisations move from proof-of-concept trials to operational deployment, against a backdrop of increasing investment in AI but ongoing challenges with data fragmentation, governance and cybersecurity. NTT DATA cited findings from its “2026 Global AI Report: A Playbook for Private and Sovereign AI”, which it said shows enterprises are “hitting walls” due to fragmented data foundations, escalating governance and cybersecurity concerns, and capacity constraints.
“By establishing a dedicated space for technology co-creation, NTT DATA invests further in being the strategic partner that companies and governments trust to operationalise AI and implement visionary technologies securely, responsibly and at scale,” says David McKeering, Executive Managing Director, ANZ, NTT DATA.
NTT DATA said organisations and partners using the centre will be able to build, test and deploy solutions across six technology areas: cybersecurity and quantum cryptography; satellite and Earth observability; physical AI and operational automation; photonics and next-generation networking; digital twin simulation; and enterprise data architecture.
In its announcement, NTT DATA also linked the centre’s capabilities to public safety and resilience use cases, including modelling environmental threats such as bushfires and floods and assessing impacts on critical infrastructure ahead of incidents.
The company said the ICA will support co-creation with local clients, partners, public sector entities, academic institutions and start-up acceleration programmes.
