The inaugural Australian Air Freight Summit will launch as part of the Avalon Australian International Airshow 2027, with organisers positioning it as a national forum focused on the future of Australia’s air freight sector.
According to the announcement, the Summit is being developed with input from across the sector and will bring together industry participants to discuss air freight growth and its role in Australia’s trade capability.
AMDA Foundation chief executive officer Justin Giddings said the new Summit would build on the airshow’s existing role as an industry meeting point. “Avalon Australian International Airshow has always been a meeting point for industry, and the Australian Air Freight Summit will extend that platform to a sector that is increasingly important to Australia’s trade future,” Giddings said.
Avalon Airport has been confirmed as the Summit’s first major partner. Avalon Airport chief executive officer Ari Suss said the airport would support the inaugural event. “The Summit will bring together the people who move freight, operate our gateways and rely on those connections to grow. It’s an opportunity to identify what the sector needs next and how we can work together to strengthen Australia’s air freight capability,” Suss said.
Freight and Trade Alliance has also been confirmed as the Summit’s program delivery partner, with responsibility for supporting development of what organisers described as an industry-led program.
FTA director and co-founder Paul Zalai said the Summit would provide a platform to bring industry participants together and recognise the roles of freight forwarders and customs brokers. “By bringing these voices together, we can identify emerging opportunities, address shared challenges and help position Australia for the next wave of air freight growth,” Zalai said.
The organisers said the Summit will include conference sessions and networking. Sponsorship opportunities are open, with registration and full program details expected in coming weeks.
