ECU buys Kings Square 3 to expand Perth CBD footprint

Edith Cowan University (ECU) says it has purchased Kings Square 3 at 10 Telethon Avenue, increasing its presence in Perth’s central business district.

The nine-level commercial building is about 150 metres from ECU’s City Campus. ECU described the purchase as a separate strategic investment intended to support the university’s future growth.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Clare Pollock said the acquisition builds on what ECU delivers for students across its City, Joondalup, South West and Sri Lanka campuses.

“This is about building on what we already offer across our campuses and creating even more opportunities for our students – and our staff,” Professor Pollock said.

ECU said Kings Square 3 includes about 9,500 square metres of office space, ground-floor retail tenancies and basement parking. It currently houses commercial tenants, food and beverage operators and an established childcare centre.

According to ECU, several floors are vacant, which it said would provide flexibility for education and research activities.

Under a section titled “Meeting the demand”, the university said demand for courses offered at ECU City Campus has grown, and that the Kings Square 3 site would allow the introduction of additional programs not currently offered, particularly at postgraduate level.

“This is about creating opportunities that simply did not exist in Perth before 2026. Opportunities for students to study right in the heart of the action, to collaborate with industry partners on their doorstep and to be part of a vibrant, connected university presence,” Professor Pollock said.

ECU said the acquisition was supported by an independent valuation and funded solely by the university.
